Hello!

I’m Aditi Singh, the creator of Livliotheca and the person behind all the book recs you’ll find here. Every book I recommend is something I’ve personally read and reviewed. For the past two years, I’ve been reading about two books a month, and at this point it feels strange not to read every day (turns out it took a bit more than 21 days to build the habit). So yes, I’ll go ahead and call myself an amateur bibliophile.

Livliotheca is my attempt to build a community of readers for whom books are a gentle detour from reality—just like they are for me. And if you don’t yet believe that books are the most superior form of entertainment, please reach out; I’d love to try and change your mind :P

My Story...

Hey y’all! I’m Aditi Singh, a techie by profession and a reader by choice. I’ve been living in the Bay Area for two years now, working as a hardware engineer. Before that, I did my master’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering at UT Austin and my undergrad at IIT Kharagpur. I was born and brought up in Mumbai, India, and moved to the US in 2022.

Reading has been my most consistent hobby since childhood. In high school I barely had time for it, and when I tried to get back into books during my master’s, I realized my attention span had crashed. I used to read for hours at 15, but now I’d be reaching for my phone every ten minutes. For me, reading was always a magical experience: imagining how the characters look, giving them voices, deciding their quirks, and directing whole scenes in my head. I liked to think of myself as a little interpretive artist.

To fix this, I set myself a challenge: read 24 books in 2024. I made it public on Instagram so I’d stay accountable and started posting short reviews of each book. The first few months were rough, but slowly I found my way back to the joy of reading. I eventually extended the challenge to two years—and hit my goal.

Along the way, I was constantly hunting for what to read next: asking friends, checking “books recommended by famous people” lists, and picking up staff favorites at bookstores. At the same time, people started asking me for recommendations after seeing my Insta stories, and they actually enjoyed the books I suggested. Some friends admitted they wanted to get into reading too but felt their attention spans had been wrecked by Netflix and reels.

I genuinely believe books are the most superior form of entertainment, and that’s the heart behind Livliotheca: to grow a community of readers and help revive the art of reading.
